Like George Wyllie declaring on his retirement from the customs service that it was “time for ART” we also believe that new chapters and adventures can begin at any age.

We have a wide variety of activities coming in 2026, watch this space!

High Tide

17th January- 14th February 2026
Opening event: Saturday 17th Jan 4-6 pm

When the tide is up it feels like the confusion of the shore line has been tidied away and order restored. If only for a while. This work is my attempt to bring order to a busy mind in an increasingly noisy world.

Materials: Concrete, oak, Plywood, silicone and stolen lead.

Yellow Bunker

From 17th January 2026

Opening event: Saturday 17th Jan

Beacon Arts Centre 2-4 pm

The Wyllieum 4-6 pm

We have partnered with our neighbours Beacon Arts Centre for the first time in hosting an artist exhibiting across both sites.

Daisy Richardson’s exhibition “We were all made in Burning Stars” is on display at the Beacon from 17th Jan until 14th Feb and her “Yellow Bunker” will be on display in the main foyer here at the Wyllieum.

A life size model of a cold war listening post bunker which she made from fabric and wood, based on the 1960 Royal Observer Corp Listening Post in Comrie, Perthshire. When she began researching this work, thoughts of nuclear showdowns were more historical study although many similar bunkers in Europe left unused since the 1990s have been returned to their original purpose with the escalating tensions on the continent. She hopes that visitors to the exhibition will be able to go inside the sculpture to experience first-hand the scale of these hard to visit subterranean buildings and to imagine what it could have been like for the volunteers to descend into these spaces of an uncertain future and to consider the political structures that brought us to the point where nuclear weapons exist.
